There&#8217;s no recipe to follow.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because I&#8217;m just not in the mood.\u00a0 That&#8217;s it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a year since the pandemic hit and during this time blogging about food\u00a0 has been the last thing on my mind.\u00a0 I&#8217;m still struggling with this because it makes me uncomfortable to be all ladeedah about posting about food while so many\u00a0 of my fellow Americans are struggling so badly.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s been up with me since I blogged last?\u00a0 Well, Hubs and I are building a commercial kitchen.\u00a0 More\u00a0 on that later.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t worn\u00a0 a bra in a year.\u00a0 Masks PLUS a bra?\u00a0 I say no.\u00a0 And I cut off all my hair.\u00a0 Ok, that was months ago.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve become even more socially awkward than I was going into this past year.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve definitely become less tolerant of other people&#8217;s bullshit.\u00a0 Rejoining society is definitely going to be&#8230;interesting.<\/p>\n<p>Which brings me to the steak from last night.\u00a0 Every day the conversation is the same.\u00a0 &#8220;What do you want for dinner?&#8221; one of us inevitably asks the other.\u00a0 It occured to me yesteday that we have not had a steak in many months.\u00a0 We decided to splurge.\u00a0 I put my order into Instacart and off we went.\u00a0 Yes, I ordered steaks from Costco off Instacart and it was totally fine.\u00a0 I&#8217;d had an emotional couple of days and I was in dire need of a treat that didn&#8217;t involve wine or chocolate.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8202\" src=\"https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3176-720x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3176-720x1024.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3176-211x300.jpg 211w, https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3176-768x1092.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3176-1080x1536.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3176-1440x2048.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3176-scaled.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I marinated these monstrosities in brown juice.\u00a0 Pick your own and go for it.\u00a0 Hubs grilled them to perfection and I served them with quick cooking things&#8230;.fingerlings roasted in duck fat and flash sauteed sugar snap peas mostly because I had too many of them lingering about.\u00a0 For those, it was just equal splashes of sesame and canola oils, some ginger puree, some crushed red chile pepper ( I used a Korean one), a scant spoonful of soy sauce, and some minced garlic at the end.\u00a0 Divine.\u00a0 Garnished the whole thing with some semi-dried chives and maldon salt flakes.<\/p>\n<p>Pro tip:\u00a0 Use the leftover duck fat from the potatoes to drizzle over the steak.\u00a0 You&#8217;re welcome.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8205\" src=\"https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3179-872x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"872\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3179-872x1024.jpg 872w, https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3179-255x300.jpg 255w, https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3179-768x902.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3179-1308x1536.jpg 1308w, https:\/\/www.burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_3179-1744x2048.jpg 1744w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 872px) 100vw, 872px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes.\u00a0 It&#8217;s me.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t written in a while.
