Yes, yes, I’m coming back!\u00a0 This summer has been nuts.\u00a0 I’ve had a heck of a time trying to get back here.\u00a0 And now it’s literally the end of summer.\u00a0 Actually, we get an extra month of warm weather here.\u00a0 But, technically, summer is over.\u00a0 And I’ve made one post and no recipes.\u00a0 Epic blog failing.<\/p>\n

But Basil & Sage has exploded all over my life.\u00a0 The grass shot up in the garden.\u00a0 An irrigation pipe exploded and made a swamp out of the gypsy corner.\u00a0 And cherry tomatoes are about to descend tsunami style into my kitchen.\u00a0 And that sums up my summer.\u00a0 Even the chickens are like, “Who are you, again?”<\/p>\n

My body has not been cooperative, either.\u00a0 I injured my foot and had to limp through the end of planting.\u00a0 I had a tooth break in half and had to have major dental work.\u00a0 Then, I went swimming in a resevoir that gave me a fungus in my ear and perforated my ear drum.\u00a0 It all had a happy ending that involved an ear irrigation and suction, lots of foot rubs from Hubs, and some renewed energy from fixing my face.<\/p>\n

Speaking of happy endings (I just cackled out loud)….Basil & Sage has exploded.\u00a0 I have done no marketing.\u00a0 I have ordered zero business cards.\u00a0 I have no specific website for it.\u00a0 Yet, I’m up to my ears in it.\u00a0 I’m not sure if it’s me or if it’s just the fact that this podunk place has a serious lack of good eats.\u00a0 Maybe both.\u00a0 I don’t know.\u00a0 But it’s getting a little nutty.\u00a0 Hubs and I are discussing expansion.\u00a0 I usually spend a good deal of time…usually weeks….considering all the pros and cons.\u00a0 I start with the cons.\u00a0 I emerse myself in all the things that I will not like about expansion so I can sit with them and feel them out.\u00a0 That’s where I am right now.\u00a0 And Hubs and I talk about it for a few minutes every day.\u00a0 It’s a good process discussing all the what ifs.\u00a0 Because if I’m going to move forward I need to do it with confidence.\u00a0 It will probably be a few months before I decide.<\/p>\n

What we DID decide on was….drumroll please….we’re getting a winery license.\u00a0 We’re going to make wine.\u00a0 I’ve contracted my first ton of grapes.\u00a0 Of course it’s Viognier.\u00a0 The Heist and La Vin Vol\u00e9 are going to become a reality.\u00a0 I’ve always said that I never wanted my own wine label.\u00a0 It’s just inviting headaches.\u00a0 But this story has taken on its own life over the past decade.\u00a0 And it just won’t stop writing new pages and chapters and who am I to deny this story it’s own existence?\u00a0 Plus, I kind of like this book….it includes Hubs and I’d like to see if there’s a sequel.\u00a0 And also…wine.\u00a0 Because….duh.<\/p>\n
