container didn&#8217;t fare well in the dishwasher.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t open anything.\u00a0 The gas tank was left to me empty and I had food to accomplish.\u00a0 Aren&#8217;t kids great?\u00a0 I knicked my finger.\u00a0 For the second time.\u00a0 In the same place as the last time.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7739\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Friday night rolls around and I had some mackerel I got on sale.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve never had mackerel outside of sashimi so I\u00a0 rolled the dice.\u00a0 I consulted The Googles and Food &amp; Wine had a recipe posted for grilled mackerel with this Asian~y sauce and I intended to follow it to the letter.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the original sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Well that didn&#8217;t happen.\u00a0 Ooopsie!\u00a0 I somehow didn&#8217;t incorporate the second step in their recipe.\u00a0 Instead, I put all the ingredients together (with some changes, obviously because it&#8217;s me&#8230;hello?!) and basted the fish with it inside and out.\u00a0 There was no turning back.\u00a0 I had exactly one cup of brown basmati rice.\u00a0 Perfect!\u00a0 I cooked it in chicken stock and Hubs lit the grill.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7736\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was fantastic.\u00a0 I&#8217;m now officially adding mackerel to my regular&#8230;albeit small&#8230;rotation of fish at home.\u00a0 We love seafood, but we are very careful about how much of it we eat, where it comes from, and what kind of fish it is.\u00a0 Hubs and I are very conscientious of the precariousness of global fish stocks and the pitfalls of eating farmed fish both for our health and the health of the environment.\u00a0 Our mackerel was wild caught in the Atlantic using sustainable fishing practices.<\/p>\n<p><img together.\u00a0 Set aside and let rest, covered, on the counter for about an hour.
