Heights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last weekend, while visiting and entertaining with Betty, we went to deliver some tomatoes to Marilyn Webb at Bethel Heights.\u00a0 While the Eola~Amity Hills AVA is at the top of my favorite Oregon AVAs list, it had been about six or seven years since I&#8217;ve tasted anything from Bethel Heights.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6495 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/20180917_121746_HDR-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" and was founded in the late seventies as a partnership between the Dudley and Casteel families.\u00a0 Marilyn has been married to Terry Casteel for decades.\u00a0 Roughly five years ago, Ted Casteel, Terry&#8217;s twin brother, planted a vineyard expansion right next to the Elton Vineyard.\u00a0 Bethel Heights grows and produces Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris on Nekia and marine sediment soils.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bethelheights.com\/place\/\">http:\/\/www.bethelheights.com\/place\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When I moved away from the Willamette Valley, Bethel Heights had under rated wines and the prices reflected that.\u00a0 When Marilyn asked us to stay and taste, of course we said yes!\u00a0 Let me tell you, a lot has changed over there since I was there last.\u00a0 The whites program, especially.\u00a0 Can you say $95.00 Chardonnay?\u00a0 Oh my.\u00a0 The High Wire was exceptionally bright and the finish just kept going and going without being heavy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6492 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/burnedatthesteak.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/20180917_120923-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" very distinct from each other.\u00a0 But they grow many of the clones I love&#8230;667, 114, and Wadenswil.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll admit, I&#8217;m partial.\u00a0 \u00a0(sorry about the glare on the rose&#8230;.I have a rose problem&#8230;.and the 2014 Estate Chardonnay, which was juicy and oaked *just* enough.\u00a0 One day, when I&#8217;m all grown up and wealthy beyond measure, I&#8217;ll go back and grab a bottle of The High Wire.\u00a0 And The Casteel Pinot Noir.\u00a0 Ok, and the Justice Vineyard Pinot Noir.\u00a0 If you insist.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone
